A search operation is underway for a passenger who is feared to have fallen overboard from the cruise ship MS Ambition. The alarm was raised on board the vessel before it docked in Dundee on Friday, concluding a two-week journey that included stops in Shetland, Iceland, and the Faroe Islands.
Coastguard aircraft from Prestwick and Carlisle have been dispatched to assist in the search, joined by a commercial search and rescue helicopter. Lifeboat crews from Anstruther and Broughty Ferry, along with Coastguard rescue teams from Dundee, Arbroath, and St Andrews, are also participating in the effort. Support is being provided by nearby vessels.
The MS Ambition, operated by Ambassador Cruise Line, was previously utilized by the Scottish government as temporary housing for Ukrainian refugees on the River Clyde.
Passengers were initially delayed from disembarking the ship but were permitted to leave around 11:30 a.m. Ambassador Cruise Line and Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
