Kelley Wolf, the estranged wife of actor Scott Wolf, has revealed the diagnosis behind a public mental health crisis she experienced, apologizing for the distress her actions caused.
In a statement shared on Instagram, Kelley Wolf disclosed that she was diagnosed with "breakthrough drug-induced mania with psychosis." She described the episode as a "perfect storm" brought on by a combination of stress, past trauma, hormonal changes, hallucinogens, and prescription medications. She stated that during this period, her "brain had been hijacked" and that her public statements and actions were not "based in truth or reality."
"I am so sorry," she wrote, addressing her estranged husband, the "Party Of Five" star. "I put him through a nightmare that wouldn’t even fly in a movie script."
Kelley Wolf announced her separation from Scott Wolf in June 2025 after 21 years of marriage. The actor subsequently filed for divorce, calling it "the most difficult decision of my life."
In the weeks following the separation announcement, Kelley Wolf was placed on a psychiatric hold at a Utah hospital. She later posted troubling messages and videos on social media. Scott Wolf was granted a temporary restraining order and temporary custody of their three children. Kelley Wolf was arrested in August 2025 for alleged online harassment and doxxing of friends and family members. The following month, she was admitted to a mental health facility again and placed on a court-ordered involuntary psychiatric hold for at least 60 days.
Reflecting on the tumultuous period, Kelley Wolf stated that it took time to understand what had happened. "It’s been a year since I recognized what everyone around me could see: I was not well, and I needed help," she wrote. She characterized her past behavior as the opposite of her lifelong values, stating, "What I became was the opposite. Cruel. Vicious. Mean."
Despite their public split and the challenges that followed, Scott and Kelley Wolf appeared to be on better terms earlier this year. They reunited with their three children for a family outing at Universal Studios. Scott Wolf described 2025 as "the hardest year of my life" but expressed a desire for their family situation not to remain in an "awful dark place."
Scott Wolf responded to Kelley Wolf's Instagram statement with five red heart emojis in the comments section, appearing to support her public address of the events. The couple, married in 2004, share three children: sons Jackson and Miller, and daughter Lucy.
