The Ellen Wilkinson School for Girls in Ealing is expressing deep sorrow following the deaths of a 14-year-old student, Sara El-Khawas, and her parents, Hassan El-Khawas, 55, and Zeina Alayn, 37. The family is believed to have encountered difficulty in the water near Shoreham Fort in West Sussex on Tuesday.
A statement from the school described Sara as a "sweet girl, well-liked by staff and students." The incident also involved a younger daughter, who remains in critical condition in the hospital. Emergency services responded to the scene, with ambulances, response vehicles, and an air ambulance helicopter visible near the seafront.
Floral tributes have been left near the shingle beach, a somber reminder of the tragedy.
