Recent satellite imagery has revealed extensive damage to military and government facilities in Iran, particularly around the coastal city of Bushehr, since March 9. The images show numerous buildings with caved-in roofs and some completely flattened structures. The affected sites include aircraft hangars, ammunition storage, dockyards, piers, and missile launch sites, according to analysis by Janes, a defense intelligence company.
These damaged facilities are reported to belong to both the Iranian government and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). In some areas identified as military on online maps, nearly all structures appear to have been destroyed. The scale of the damage suggests a deliberate and wide-ranging strike campaign aimed at degrading infrastructure, Janes Middle East defense specialist Jeremy Binnie stated.
Naval infrastructure also appears to have been impacted, with construction and repair sheds at a naval dockyard showing damage. Reports indicate that targets hit include ballistic missile infrastructure, nuclear sites, and naval bases.
Some images display destroyed aircraft and sunken ships. Craters have also been observed on multiple runways, including at Bushehr International Airport, although some of these appear to have undergone repair. The damage seen in the satellite images correlates with previous U.S. and Israeli reports of extensive strike campaigns.
