San Francisco firefighters performed a high-flying rescue of a wild parrot that had become trapped on a third-floor balcony. The bird, one of the renowned "wild parrots of Telegraph Hill," got its head stuck between panes of glass on a balcony undergoing construction.
A firefighter ascended to the building's roof and used a ladder to reach the precarious situation. The firefighter carefully extracted the parrot's head from the glass and then wrapped the bird in a towel. Following the extraction, an animal control officer checked the parrot to ensure it was uninjured. Thankfully, the bird's wings, legs, and neck were unharmed.
Upon release, the parrot flew to a nearby tree and was met with vocal approval from its flock. The "wild parrots of Telegraph Hill" are a well-known sight in the San Francisco neighborhood.
