Samantha Armytage is poised to return to the "Today" show in the coming weeks, shortly after celebrating her 50th birthday. Armytage, who previously filled in as co-host alongside Tom Steinfort last month, proved to be a popular presence on the breakfast program.
She was absent from the desk last week as she traveled to Queensland to mark her 50th birthday. Her return to the Nine network's breakfast program is now anticipated, with her presence expected before Channel Nine confirms permanent replacements for Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo.
Armytage had previously hosted the show while wearing a leg brace due to a fractured ankle. She shared on Instagram that the injury occurred when she missed a step while taking out the rubbish. Despite the setback, she maintained a positive demeanor during her on-air appearances.
Reports suggest that Armytage and Steinfort are being considered as the new permanent hosts for "Today." The network has been experimenting with different presenters since Karl Stefanovic's departure in June and Sarah Abo's subsequent maternity leave. The pairing of Armytage and Steinfort reportedly contributed to a significant increase in viewership, with ratings reportedly rising by 60,000 viewers. This boost has led Channel Nine executives to consider them for long-term roles on the program.
