The house in Salisbury, England, where former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia were poisoned by a nerve agent has been placed on the market. The property is being offered as a part-ownership deal, with buyers purchasing 30 percent of the house for £114,000 and paying an additional monthly rent to Wiltshire Council.

The 2018 Nerve Agent Attack

In March 2018, Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia were found critically ill after coming into contact with Novichok, a military-grade nerve agent. Investigators determined the substance had been smeared on the door handle of their home. Two members of Russia's GRU security service were later accused of traveling to Salisbury to carry out the attack. The former KGB agent, who had become a double agent for Britain in 1995, and his daughter survived the incident after extensive medical treatment. Yulia Skripal was discharged from the hospital in April 2018, and Sergei Skripal in mid-May.

Wider Impact and Property History

The Novichok attack had wider consequences. Dawn Sturgess, a local woman who came into contact with a discarded perfume bottle containing the nerve agent, died in July 2018. Her partner, Charlie Rowley, also fell ill but recovered. Detective Sergeant Nick Bailey, the first officer to enter the Skripal home, also became ill but survived.

The three-bedroom property has since been decontaminated by specialist army teams and refurbished by the local council. It was previously sold in 2023, with reports indicating the council retained a majority stake to prevent the house from becoming a tourist attraction. The current listing emphasizes the property's location, modernised kitchen, living room, garden, driveway, and solar panels. Key elements of the house, including the front door and porch, have been replaced since the 2018 incident.

Sergei Skripal and Yulia Skripal have been in hiding since the attack, having been relocated by British authorities. Sergei Skripal had been pardoned and sent to the UK in 2010 as part of a spy-swap deal after being imprisoned in Russia for passing secrets to MI6.
