Three people were killed across Ukraine on Wednesday in overnight Russian attacks, including one in Kyiv, where powerful explosions were heard for the second night in a row.

Several explosions occurred shortly after midnight in Kyiv, preceding an air raid alert. Authorities stated that this sequence was unusual, as warnings typically precede strikes, allowing civilians time to seek shelter.

In Kharkiv, Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that two people were killed and 20 others injured during a series of overnight strikes.

Ukraine’s Air Force reported that Russia launched 169 long-range strike drones and seven missiles, including five ballistic missiles, at the country. Air defenses successfully shot down or jammed 139 drones, and two anti-radar missiles did not reach their intended targets. However, five ballistic missiles and 20 drones struck targets at 15 different locations, highlighting the ongoing strain on Ukraine’s air defense systems.

Russia’s Defense Ministry stated that its military conducted a strike on arms industry facilities in Kyiv, targeting a plant involved in manufacturing components for Flamingo cruise missiles and a facility assembling mid- and long-range drones.

The ministry also claimed that air defenses downed 415 Ukrainian drones between late Tuesday and early Wednesday. Saratov Governor Roman Busargin said a Ukrainian drone attack resulted in one fatality, several injuries, and damage to unspecified industrial facilities.

In Nizhnekamsk, Ukrainian drones reportedly damaged industrial facilities and injured several people, according to Mayor Radmir Belyayev. The specific facilities were not named.

Governor of the Rostov region, Yuri Slyusar, reported that Ukrainian drones struck and damaged two oil tankers in Taganrog Bay, leading to injuries for two crew members. The crew of one vessel required evacuation. Slyusar confirmed there was no oil spill, as the tankers were empty and en route to the port of Rostov-on-Don.

In Kyiv, the Russian attack resulted in the death of one woman and injuries to two others, according to city administration head Tymur Tkachenko. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported that the attack damaged several administrative buildings, warehouses, a garage complex, and city trams.

In Zaporizhzhia, an elderly man and a woman were injured by a Russian guided bomb, regional head Ivan Fedorov stated.
