Russell Brand, facing multiple rape and sexual assault charges in the United Kingdom, is scheduled to headline a voting rights conference in Shelter Island, New York. The event is part of the "United We Stand" tour organized by the electoral reform foundation, Free and Equal.

Brand, who has pleaded not guilty to the charges, is described in promotional materials as an "author, broadcaster and independent voice" who will be in "open conversation on capital, sovereignty, and self-governance." He is one of two headliners, with the other being the fiscal responsibility advocate known as Joe From Texas.

In April 2025, British police charged Brand with one count of rape, one of indecent assault, one of oral rape, and two of sexual assault. These charges stem from alleged interactions with four women between 1999 and 2005. Brand has publicly stated that he has "never engaged in non-consensual activity."

In December, Brand faced two additional rape charges involving two other women. He again pleaded not guilty to these charges.

Christina Tobin, founder of Free and Equal, commented on the choice of Brand as a headliner, stating that he is "innocent until proven guilty."

The conference is set to take place at the Ram's Head Inn on Shelter Island, a location known for its tranquil atmosphere. Other speakers at the event include Ron Paul, Sheriff Mack, Michael Terpin, Patrick Byrne, Joby Weeks, and David Walker.
