A runaway horse prompted a significant police response in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on Sunday, just before the city's Desfile de La Gente festival was set to begin. The coordinated effort involved Santa Fe Police Motors, Bicycle Officers, Animal Services, drone operators, and local cowboys.
The horse was first spotted loose on the streets, leading to a pursuit by motorcycle officers attempting to safely control the animal. Video footage captured the chase, with officers working to corral the horse. Ultimately, they managed to surround the animal on Canyon Road.
Following its safe capture, the horse was returned to its owner and participated in the Desfile de La Gente festival, also known as the Santa Fe Fiesta Historical/Hysterical Parade. The annual event celebrates the unique culture of Northern New Mexico.
This incident occurred two years after a police chase and shooting near the fiesta grounds led to the cancellation of the parade in 2024.
