Comedian Rufus Hound, 47, has married his girlfriend, actress Sally Hodgkiss, 42, after a three-year relationship. The announcement comes six years after Hound's split from his previous wife, Beth Johnson.
Hound revealed the marriage on the social media platform Bluesky, posting an image of a modified countdown calendar that indicated the wedding had taken place. He captioned the post, "Everyone have a good weekend?"
The couple's engagement was first announced in 2024 when Hound proposed to Hodgkiss on stage. He shared the moment on X, formerly Twitter, describing how Hodgkiss had redefined his understanding of being loved and seen over the past two years. He recounted how, during a performance at Wilton Music Hall, he felt compelled to propose during her final bow.
"As the crowd applauded her, I took to the stage beside her. Wordlessly, I mimed that I was unlikely to be able to speak, as I was totally overwhelmed," Hound wrote. "Then I dropped to one knee and she looked confused... It was only when I spoke her name she realised what was happening. She said yes."
Hound stated that his children were "f]king delighted," his ex-wife congratulated him, and his parents were "beside themselves." He expressed his happiness, noting, "Everything is better with her. She's magic. And soon, I'll be her husband."
News of Hound's relationship with Hodgkiss first emerged in June of the previous year when he posted on Twitter about his new love, declaring that "nobody has ever loved me as much as her."
Hound and his former wife Beth Johnson wed in 2007 in Las Vegas. They share two children, son Alby and daughter Hilda, and separated in 2020. In October of that year, Hound shared a statement indicating that he and Johnson had made the "sad decision to end our marriage" but would "always remain best friends," emphasizing that their family would remain their "number one priority."
Hodgkiss, an actress, appeared as Steph in a 2019 episode of the BBC soap opera EastEnders, where her character worked at the restaurant Walford East. She has also appeared in an episode of Casualty and in various stage productions.
In 2021, during his participation in the television show Dancing On Ice, resurfaced tweets from Hound containing racist and homophobic slurs led to calls for his removal from the program. Reports at the time suggested that ITV had decided not to remove him. However, Hound later withdrew from the show after testing positive for COVID-19.
