Ruben Amorim has acknowledged making errors during his 14-month tenure as Manchester United's head coach and has apologized to supporters for not addressing them directly since his January dismissal.

Amorim, officially unveiled as the new head coach of AC Milan on Wednesday, stated he was proud of his time at Manchester United. The 41-year-old faced criticism for his tactical inflexibility, a stance that reportedly contributed to his departure following a disagreement with director of football Jason Wilcox.

"It's hard to explain the mistakes as I would have to explain all the context of the last adventure," Amorim said during a press conference, conducted in English. "The only thing I can say is that I learn a lot and I did some mistakes. I didn't have the opportunity – and I am sorry for that – to say something to the Manchester United fans but I’m really proud to have been their coach for a year."

He added, "Everyone learns from their experience. I learn a lot. I did some mistakes. I will try to change but there are some things you never change. I think I will be better. That’s all."

Michael Carrick took over from Amorim in mid-January and guided Manchester United to a third-place finish in the Premier League, securing Champions League qualification. The two coaches are set to face each other when Manchester United plays AC Milan in their final pre-season match on August 15 in Wroclaw, Poland.
