The Royal Foundation of the Prince and Princess of Wales received $8.7 million last year from its U.S. office, according to newly published financial figures. This represents a substantial increase from the $4.9 million reported in 2024.
The American Friends branch of the foundation, a separately controlled entity established in 2011, contributed 44 percent of the foundation's total reported income of $19.6 million in 2025. The foundation reported retaining $10.6 million in funds as of December 2025 after spending $16.5 million on charitable activities. These initiatives include Kate Middleton's Early Years program, Prince William's Homewards initiative to combat homelessness, and the United for Wildlife enterprise.
Staff costs at the Royal Foundation increased to $6.4 million, with headcount rising to 80 from 67 in 2024. The Royal Foundation has operated independently of the Earthshot Prize since 2022.
In contrast, Archewell Philanthropies, the charitable arm of Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, reported total revenues of $2.6 million in 2024, a decrease from $5.7 million in the previous year. Archewell announced a 'reset' and staff reductions in December to streamline operations, with a commitment to broaden their global philanthropic efforts.
Prince Harry also stepped down as patron of Sentebale, a charity he co-founded for children with HIV, citing a deteriorated relationship with the organization's chairman. Sentebale is now suing Harry and his former royal equerry Mark Dyer, alleging operational disruption and reputational harm, claims that Harry and Dyer reject.
The Duchess of Sussex marked her 45th birthday this week with a social media post showing her jumping into a swimming pool with balloons. The accounts for the Royal Foundation were filed with the Charity Commission.
