Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams has suggested that Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, a former principal private secretary to Princes William and Harry, could be the key to reconciling the royal siblings.
Fitzwilliams stated that if a mediator were sought by both Prince William and Prince Harry, Lowther-Pinkerton would be the undisputed choice. Lowther-Pinkerton, a former SAS soldier, served as the princes' full-time private secretary for nearly a decade. During his tenure, he guided their military careers, provided support to Harry following Princess Diana's death, and facilitated Kate Middleton's integration into the Royal Family.
Fitzwilliams pointed to the deep rift between the brothers, exacerbated by past family dynamics and Princess Diana's death, which he believes has particularly traumatized Harry. While the brothers shared a close bond, a strong rivalry also existed, as Harry detailed in his memoir "Spare."
Lowther-Pinkerton, who is described as having a deep and enduring bond with both princes, also played a significant role in their lives during their twenties, acting as a surrogate father figure during a period of immense pressure. He organized William's wedding to Catherine and was later made Prince George's godfather, indicating the absolute mutual trust that exists.
Lowther-Pinkerton's influence extended to Kate Middleton, whom he mentored as she transitioned into her royal role. He described her as "really cool," and their closeness was evident when she publicly hugged and kissed him during an engagement.
Despite his loyalty to the Crown, Lowther-Pinkerton has maintained a connection with Harry, speaking of his "huge redeeming features" and maintaining an optimistic outlook regarding any potential reconciliation. Harry himself expressed devotion to Lowther-Pinkerton, referring to him as a figure who "didn't deal in b******t."
Lowther-Pinkerton's discreet approach has kept him out of the ongoing feud, but Fitzwilliams believes his unique position makes him the ideal candidate should the brothers seek to mend their relationship. However, Fitzwilliams noted that Lowther-Pinkerton has had limited interaction with Meghan Markle, as his service predates her entry into the royal family, leaving questions about their potential mutual trust.
Lowther-Pinkerton, who was awarded an MBE for his work in Colombia, is now living in Suffolk and has recently released a novel titled "Beyond The Edge Of Light."
