Two armed robbers who falsely claimed to be from Liverpool while raiding a shop in Derbyshire have been sentenced to four years in prison each. Stephen Bradley, 56, and David Oakley, 48, threatened staff at Maddy's Store on Church Road, New Mills, with a knife and an imitation firearm.

The pair stole approximately £4,000 in cigarettes, £200 in cash, and nine bottles of whiskey during the incident. During the robbery, they were overheard on CCTV stating a need to "get back to Liverpool."

Derbyshire Police revealed that Bradley and Oakley were, in fact, residents living only about five minutes away from the targeted store. Bradley, of New Street, New Mills, pleaded guilty to one count of robbery and possession of an imitation firearm. Oakley, who has no fixed address, admitted to one count of robbery and possession of a knife.

Both men received their sentences at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on June 24.
