Riot police apprehended a wanted man on a rooftop in Salford after a two-day standoff. The arrest involved officers using a ladder to reach the suspect, who was asleep on the roof of a back porch. During the apprehension, the man's trousers were pulled off as officers hauled him to the ground, resulting in him falling on top of them.

Two officers suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident. Greater Manchester Police stated the arrest was requested by another force. The 37-year-old man was wanted on recall to prison and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing public nuisance, criminal damage, public order offenses, burglary, and assaulting two police officers. He remains in police custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Helen Bagnall of the Salford district commented on the operation, highlighting the extensive use of policing resources and the daily dangers faced by officers. She also thanked the local community for their patience and understanding during the disruption. Some properties sustained damage due to the man's actions, and police are working with partners to support affected residents.
