Beatles drummer Ringo Starr marked his 86th birthday with a celebration in Beverly Hills, accompanied by his wife of 45 years, Barbara Bach.
Starr, who turned 86 on Tuesday, posed for photographs with Bach at the event. Bach, 79, a former Bond girl known for her role in "The Spy Who Loved Me," wore a cream blazer over an all-black ensemble. The couple, who married in 1981, met on the set of the film "Caveman" the previous year and divide their time between homes in London, Los Angeles, and Monte Carlo.
Bach had previously gained recognition as KGB agent Anya Amasova, or Agent XXX, in the tenth James Bond film. Before her acting career, she was a prominent figure in the modeling world, appearing in publications like Vogue and Elle. She also featured in a Playboy spread in 1981.
The couple has navigated significant challenges, including a near-fatal car accident and battles with addiction, from which they emerged by attending rehab together and adopting a lifestyle focused on vegetarianism and outreach work.
Both Starr and Bach have children from previous relationships. Bach has two children, Francesca and Gianni, from her marriage to Italian industrialist Augusto Gregorini. Starr was previously married to Maureen Cox, with whom he had three children: Zak, Jason, and Lee. Cox died in 1994 after a leukemia diagnosis.
In recent musical news, Starr made an appearance on Paul McCartney's new album, contributing to the song "Home to Us." McCartney noted that this marked the first time Starr had recorded a duet with a former Beatles bandmate. Starr also confirmed the collaboration on "The Jimmy Kimmel Show," describing the song's creation process, which began with drums recorded in reverse, as amusing and authentic to their shared history in Liverpool.
Meanwhile, The Beatles are slated to be the subject of a series of biopics in 2028, directed by Sam Mendes. Barry Keoghan is set to portray Ringo Starr in "The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event," which will chronicle the band's rise to fame.
