Police forces in rural Suffolk swiftly sealed off village streets and disrupted an Islamic event following the discovery of an alleged right-wing terror plot. Residents described a significant police presence, including armed officers, which they found unusual for their normally peaceful area.

Anita Woolnough, a local resident, recounted seeing a large number of police vehicles, estimated to be around 50, by early Sunday morning. "There were loads of police here," she said. "Armed police and they were shutting down the event". She expressed relief that law enforcement was expected to remain in the area for several days.

Another resident, Jason Langford, shared his astonishment at the scale of the police operation. "I'm still reeling from it, quite honestly. You just don't expect it in rural Suffolk," he stated. "I was amazed by the armed police, the road closures - it was absolute carnage."

Langford commended the police for their handling of the situation, describing their response as "very calm, very methodical." He noted that residents were not immediately informed about the nature of the threat, a decision he felt might have prevented unnecessary speculation.

The event, identified by signage as the Shrubland Ijtima Entrance, was located at Shrubland Hall in Barham, Suffolk. Images show a large complex of marquees and tents set up in an open field, with Shrubland Hall, a historic building, visible in the background. The site was cordoned off, with police vehicles and officers present throughout the area.
