Richard Hammond has spoken publicly about his new relationship with therapist Kiki Glen, detailing his newfound happiness after a difficult period. The couple went public with their romance in June, eight months after Hammond, 56, and his wife of 23 years, Mindy, announced their separation.
In an interview with The Times, Hammond described his relationship with Glen as "the best thing that's going on for me." He shared his engagement in new physical activities, including playing golf, taking up serious running, and preparing for a small triathlon next year. This has led him to take up wild swimming, an activity he previously avoided.
"My partner took one look at the lake, clapped her hands and said, 'Oh, darling, doesn't it just make you want to get in?' No, I spent 40 years avoiding it," Hammond recounted. He added that he and his partner subsequently went swimming in wetsuits and he "absolutely loved it."
Glen, whose full name is Keira Glen, is a therapist and a governor at Headington Rye school in Oxford. She has two daughters, aged 26 and 24, who are close in age to Hammond's daughters, Izzy, 26, and Willow, 23.
Following his separation from Mindy, Hammond moved out of their former marital home, Bollitree Castle, near Ross-on-Wye. He relocated to Wales and purchased a £2 million Georgian farmhouse as he sought a fresh start. The couple announced their divorce in January 2025, stating that while their marriage was ending after 28 years, they would "always be in each other's lives and are proud of the family we created."
Hammond previously described 2025 as a "year from hell," which included the "devastating" collapse of his marriage. Reports suggest that his relationship with Mindy had become strained in recent years, partly due to injuries sustained in two near-fatal car crashes. In 2006, he was hospitalized after crashing a Vampire Dragster at over 200 mph, which resulted in a coma. Eleven years later, he crashed a Rimac Concept One during filming for The Grand Tour, fracturing his knee.
Despite the divorce, Richard and Mindy Hammond were seen together at their daughter Willow's university graduation. An insider previously commented that the cumulative effects of the crashes had impacted Hammond physically and mentally, which in turn affected his relationship with Mindy.
