Retail Giants Announce Competing Sales Events Ahead of Holidays
Amazon, Target, and Walmart are set to launch major discount events in October, intensifying competition as the holiday shopping season approaches.
Walmart, Target, and Amazon are gearing up for a retail showdown with overlapping sales events scheduled to begin in October, just as consumers start their holiday shopping.
Walmart will kick off its week-long sales event on October 5, offering discounts across various categories. Shoppers can expect up to 50% off home goods, 40% off fashion and tech items, and up to 30% off toys. The event is set to run through October 11.
Target's annual Circle Deal Days event is slated to run from October 6 to October 7. Members of its free loyalty program, Target Circle, can participate. However, those with a Target Circle 360 membership will gain early access, with their deals beginning on October 5. The sale will feature 40% off a wide range of products, including apparel, home decor, kitchen gadgets, beauty items, and toys. Target is also offering incentives for new members: those who join Target Circle between September 27 and October 5 will receive 15% off their first purchase. Applicants approved for a Target Circle Card between September 27 and October 10 will get $75 in rewards, and new annual Target Circle 360 members enrolled within the same period will receive $50 in rewards.
Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days will also take place on October 6 and October 7. This two-day event will offer Prime members significant discounts. The e-commerce giant is promoting up to 45% off fall apparel and shoes, up to 35% off bedding and holiday decor, and up to 30% off game day and tailgating gear. Additionally, Halloween costumes and accessories will be available starting at $5.
The overlapping sales events suggest a competitive landscape as these major retailers vie for consumer spending in the lead-up to the busiest shopping period of the year.
