Reilly Smedley has revealed that Cara Maria Sorbello issued her a post-season apology for actions that transpired during the second elimination on "The Challenge: Cutthroat." Smedley, a "Big Brother" alum, told Page Six that Sorbello reached out "a couple months ago" to apologize, stating, "I love you. I am so sorry if I misdirected you. It was never intentional."
Smedley, 27, explained that Sorbello's attempt to guide her during the challenge ultimately led to confusion and her own elimination against Deb Chubb. "I was just listening and doing as I was told. And if I had used my own brain in that moment, then I probably would have made it further in the game," Smedley said. She added that while Sorbello's guidance might have been a "misstep," the outcome was not solely attributable to her.
Despite the elimination, Smedley stated that her relationship with Sorbello is now strong. "Me and Cara are amazing. I love Cara. She's the best," Smedley said. She acknowledged that Sorbello "genuinely feels terrible" about the situation but that Smedley "doesn't hold a grudge." Smedley also expressed appreciation for the support she received from her Blue Team teammates during the challenge, noting that their "bird's-eye view" and experience were helpful.
Smedley attributed the Blue Team's overall struggles to "internal issues" among the newer members of the team. "We were brand new. We had to learn everything about each other," she stated. The team faced challenges including losing a member early and disqualifications, contributing to a lack of chemistry and cohesion.
Reflecting on her "Challenge" experience compared to her time on "Big Brother 25," where she was eliminated early, Smedley described her time on "The Challenge" as "a way more positive experience." She acknowledged that her initial exit on "Big Brother" may have "left a bad taste in people's mouths" but believes she has since mended those relationships. Smedley concluded by expressing her affection for her "Challenge" castmates and her satisfaction with the friendships formed, despite her personal performance in the competition.
New episodes of "The Challenge: Cutthroat" are available on Wednesdays on Paramount+.
