Red Bulls' Julian Hall, 18, Earns First USMNT Call-Up Amidst International Eligibility Debate
The young forward, who has impressed with 12 goals this season, has been named to the USMNT roster but remains open to representing Poland.
Red Bulls forward Julian Hall, 18, has received his first call-up to the U.S. men’s national soccer team (USMNT), marking a significant milestone in his burgeoning career. Hall was named to the 26-man roster for the team's upcoming camp and friendlies, a development he described as an "emotional moment" shared with his family.
"I’ve grown up watching all senior national teams and watching World Cups,” Hall told The Post. “Of course, seeing the most recent one and how well the national team did. It was an emotional moment for me and my family. It was just a great moment.”
The young forward has been a standout performer for Red Bull New York this season, registering 12 goals and three assists in 27 appearances across all competitions. His strong campaign has seen him usurp veteran Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting in the starting lineup and has drawn attention as a potential future star for the USMNT program as it prepares for the 2030 World Cup.
Hall is joined on the national team roster by fellow teen teammate Adri Mehmeti and New York City FC goalkeeper Matt Freese. For both Hall and Mehmeti, this marks their first call-ups to the senior men's national team.
Despite the USMNT call-up, Hall's international future is not yet fully decided. He is also eligible to play for Poland through his mother, who was born there, and the Polish Football Association has actively pursued him. FIFA rules stipulate that a player is not officially tied to a national team until they appear in an official competition, leaving Hall's options open.
"I think it’s definitely not solidified for me,” Hall stated. “I appreciate the opportunity and I’m going to do as much as I can to make an impact, but I’m definitely still open to my Polish side. That’s a side that I cherish a lot, especially because my mom is from there. I wouldn’t say it’s solidified.”
He aims to demonstrate his quality and ability to make an impact during the upcoming exhibition matches, which are scheduled to take place across the United States against Peru, Chile, Mexico, and Canada.
Hall emphasized that his immediate focus remains on his performance with the Red Bulls. "It all starts here at Red Bull," he said, acknowledging that he tries to keep his focus on earning opportunities, whether they be with the U.S. or Poland.
