A man who raped a woman in her caravan after the Royal Windsor Horse Show has been sentenced to eight years and six months in prison. Ryan Dinnage, 32, was found guilty of rape following a trial at Reading Crown Court.

The attack occurred in the early hours of May 16, 2022, shortly after the final day of the equestrian event in Berkshire. The victim had been working at the show when the offense took place.

Thames Valley Police reported the crime later on May 16, 2022, and Dinnage was arrested the following day. Initially, he denied any sexual activity with the victim, but forensic evidence linked him to the assault. Dinnage then changed his statement, claiming the encounter was consensual. However, digital evidence recovered from his mobile phone contradicted his account and placed him near the victim's caravan at the time of the offense.

He was charged by postal requisition on March 6, 2025. The jury found Dinnage unanimously guilty of one count of rape on June 8. He was acquitted of one count of sexual assault and one count of causing a female to engage in non-penetrative sexual activity.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Arshid Ali stated that the sentence reflects the seriousness of the offense. "Thames Valley Police takes all reports of sexual offences extremely seriously, and we remain committed to investigating these offences thoroughly and bringing those responsible to justice," Ali said.

"This has been a long and difficult process for the victim, spanning more than four years," Ali added. "I hope that the sentence handed down provides her with a sense of closure and allows her to begin moving forward with her life. I would like to thank her for the courage and strength she has shown throughout the investigation and court proceedings."

Dinnage, who is from Croydon in south London, was sentenced on July 30.
