Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers has developed a notable affinity for the sloppy joe sandwiches served at the team's practice facility, a culinary preference that his fiancée, Cameron Newell, noted she does not recreate at home.
Newell, who became engaged to Bowers in July, discussed Bowers' eating habits during an appearance on "4th & Cole," a podcast hosted by Kylie, the wife of Raiders punter Adam Cole. Newell shared that Bowers has a strong appreciation for the facility's chefs and their creations, particularly the sloppy joes.
"He has a very strong connection with them," Newell stated on the podcast. "One day, he came home, and he’s like, ‘Oh my god, they made sloppy joes at the facility, they’re so good.'" Newell offered to make the sandwiches for him at home, but Bowers declined, indicating he preferred to eat them only at the facility.
Newell recounted an instance where Bowers consumed three sloppy joes before 10 a.m., which she described as a "record." She expressed surprise at his ability to consume such a quantity and questioned its impact on his digestion, while also noting his refusal to let her prepare them.
Bowers is entering his first season with the Raiders after being selected by the team in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He played college football at the University of Georgia, where he was a prominent player before turning professional.
