Joy FM host Grace Newton-Wordsworth has recounted a frightening experience in Melbourne over the weekend, where she believes she was targeted for trafficking.

Newton-Wordsworth, who also performs with the band Joan & the Giants, said the incident occurred in the early hours of the morning as she was walking home alone.

She reported that a man approached her on a main street, initially asking for a lighter. During their brief interaction, the man inquired about her residence. Newton-Wordsworth stated she declined his offer of a ride home, sensing something was amiss.

Shortly after, she noticed a white car slow down and stop beside her, remaining stationary for an extended period. She became increasingly concerned that the man and the occupants of the white car might be working together. Her suspicion grew when she realized the man had shown an unusual interest in her home's location.

To avoid revealing her address, Newton-Wordsworth altered her route home. However, she observed the white car begin to reverse. She then saw the man from the initial encounter watching down the street. Fearing an imminent threat, she decided to quickly enter her apartment.

Newton-Wordsworth shared her account on Instagram, describing the experience as deeply distressing and leading her to believe she was deliberately targeted. She issued a warning to other women about personal safety.

Following her post, other women shared similar accounts of frightening encounters in Melbourne. One individual described being grabbed by a man who attempted to pull her into a white car, and another mentioned being shoved and dragged.

Victoria Police were contacted for comment regarding the incident.
