Queen's University Belfast (QUB) is investigating a paper co-authored by Professor Jason Arday, who has stepped down from his positions at the University of Cambridge following allegations of plagiarism. The 2021 paper, published on QUB's academic research platform, examines the impact of university curricula on "Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) learners" and "academics of colour."
A spokesperson for QUB stated, "We are aware that Professor Arday's research, co-authored with academics from Queen's, is published on our academic research platform. We are currently looking into the matter and liaising with other UK universities in relation to it."
The paper in question is titled "Attempting to break the chain: Reimagining inclusive pedagogy and decolonising the curriculum within the academy." It includes interviews with students and staff, discussing the exclusionary nature of current university curricula and advocating for changes to make them more inclusive and less "Eurocentric."
Professor Arday resigned from his University of Cambridge roles on Wednesday amid the plagiarism allegations. He has previously defended himself and his work.
