Passengers traveling this summer may find themselves sharing their journeys with more than just fellow travelers, according to psychic medium Chloe Smith. Smith, 29, from the East Midlands, claims that "ghost tourists" often board planes and trains and that their presence is frequently felt near the coast. She told the Daily Mail that she has always had the ability to "sense things were about to happen before they actually happened," with her connection to spirits intensifying after her grandmother's passing. Smith now regularly conducts readings and shares her experiences on social media.
Smith explains that contrary to popular belief, spirits are not confined to derelict houses or historical sites but can be found in everyday settings. She suggests spirits may travel on aircraft in response to passenger energy, seeking to protect them, or they might revisit planes where they previously worked. "Spirits are on board because they choose to accompany the people or the environment inside the plane," Smith stated. She added that loved ones might travel with us, offering protection during anxious moments, or perhaps they miss their former work environment. Smith describes planes as "spaces of intense repetition" where routines, safety briefings, and heightened emotions can create an "imprint" or a "loop of psychic film tape." According to her, the "veil" between life and the afterlife thins as one ascends to higher altitudes.
Smith recounted an instance where she experienced a severe headache and inability to open her eyes on a plane, which she attributes to a spirit physically using her body to communicate its passing. She later asked the spirit to leave, and her symptoms immediately subsided. After inquiring about a man with a brain aneurysm, she confirmed it was the spirit's cause of death.
Beyond air travel, Smith claims spirits are also drawn to coastal areas, describing the sea as "one of the most powerful spiritual environments on Earth." She believes the proximity to the sea thins the veil between the physical and spiritual worlds, facilitating connection with departed loved ones. Water's ability to conduct "consciousness and emotion" aids spirits, who no longer have dense physical bodies and operate as energy frequencies. The rhythmic sound of waves, she explained, can match a relaxed human heartbeat, acting as a bridge for spirits to "tune in like a radio."
Smith also noted that spirits can utilize other forms of transport, including trains. She shared a video clip of an empty train seat, claiming a "dead man sat opposite me," suggesting spirits might be commuting or accompanying loved ones. To manage her connections, Smith carries a "scribble pad" to help release tension and an "empath bracelet" to shield her from others' emotions while traveling. She also feels drawn to tourist attractions, particularly the Tower of London, which she described as a site that "holds a lot of history, feeling and spirit."
