Prince Philippos of Greece, a godson of the late Princess Diana, and his wife Princess Nina have welcomed their first child, a son named Kimon Thomas Konstantinos, via a surrogate in the United States. The baby was born on July 27, 2026.

A statement from the office of the former Royal Family of Greece confirmed the birth, expressing delight and gratitude to the surrogate and the medical team. This marks a significant event for the Greek Royal Family, as surrogacy is an uncommon practice within its history.

Prince Philippos, 40, is a New York-based financial analyst and the youngest child of Constantine II, the last King of Greece. Princess Nina, 39, is the daughter of Swiss billionaire businessman Thomas Flohr. Their son's middle name, Konstantinos, honors Philippos' late father, while his other middle name, Thomas, pays tribute to Nina's father.

The couple, who were secretly married in Switzerland in December 2020, have had multiple wedding celebrations. Their second, a more public event, took place in Athens in October 2021. Princess Nina is also known to be friends with Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, husband of Princess Beatrice, and attended the wedding of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank.

In December 2024, members of Greece's former royal family had their citizenship reinstated after being stripped of it in 1994. This decision followed a dispute over royal property and a refusal to renounce claims to the Greek throne. The monarchy was abolished by referendum in 1974, and the royal family lived in exile in England for many years before Constantine II returned as a private citizen in his seventies. The family has also adopted the surname 'De Grece,' meaning 'of Greece.'

While Prince Philippos' mother is Anne-Marie of Denmark, his paternal aunt is Queen Sofia of Spain, and his maternal aunts include Princess Benedikte of Denmark and Queen Margrethe II of Denmark. Lady Penelope Knatchbull, a long-time companion of the late Duke of Edinburgh, is also one of his godmothers.

Prince Philippos, born in London, was raised in a household frequented by Princess Diana. He is known for maintaining a private life but has attended numerous high-profile events. He graduated from Georgetown University and has worked in hedge funds. Princess Nina founded the Bazaruto Center for Scientific Studies, a marine research facility, and previously worked as a creative director for her father's private jet charter company, VistaJet.
