Princess Anne has postponed the beginning of her annual summer break to attend a rehearsal for the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in Scotland on Monday.

The Princess Royal, widely recognized for her dedicated work ethic within the Royal Family, observed preparations for the event which is scheduled to commence on Friday. Dressed in a traditional tartan skirt and a cream jacket, she engaged with Robert Aldridge, the Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh, and military personnel participating in this year's displays.

Princess Anne, 75, was photographed holding a bouquet of blue, white, and purple flowers and appeared cheerful while speaking with members of the Vancouver Police Pipe Band. This band is slated to perform at the annual event held at Edinburgh Castle. The Princess also met with representatives from the Royal Regiment of Scotland and the Royal Air Force before watching a rehearsal.

Her visit contrasts with other members of the Royal Family, such as King Charles and Queen Camilla, who have already begun their traditional summer recess. Princess Anne has consistently shown interest in the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, an event that originated in 1950 on the esplanade of the city's Castle.

Organizers of the event state that Anne frequently attends rehearsals at Redford Barracks to connect with participants and staff prior to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. This year's Tattoo, themed 'A Call to Gather,' is part of the broader Edinburgh Festivals program and will run from August 7 to August 29.

Princess Anne has a long-standing connection with Scotland, having served as president of the Scottish Rugby Union for over four decades. She holds the title Knight of the Thistle, is Chancellor of the University of Edinburgh, and has twice served as Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. Her many patronages in Scotland include the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo and the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies.

Last week, the Princess Royal, alongside her husband Sir Timothy Laurence, attended the Commonwealth Games. They were joined by the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh for the seventh day of the competition in Glasgow.

Anne's visit comes as other members of the Royal Family have began their traditional summer break - with King Charles and Queen Camilla retreating to Scotland to take time away from their engagements

During their appearance at the Commonwealth Games, other members of the Royal Family, including the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children, also made an appearance. Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis watched various sporting events. The children were noted for their smart attire, with George and Louis wearing Ralph Lauren linen shirts and Charlotte in a dress from Guess paired with Pretty Ballerinas flats. The Princess of Wales wore a striped jumper with a pleated skirt and a green blazer.
