Prince Harry made a surprise appearance on MasterChef Australia via FaceTime on Sunday night, calling his wife, Meghan Markle, while she was serving as a guest judge. The Duchess of Sussex was in the process of tasting the finalists' dishes when a stagehand brought her a phone, revealing it was her husband on the line.

An excited Meghan shared the moment with the show's judges – Sofia Levin, Poh Ling Yeow, and Jean-Christophe Novelli – introducing them to Harry. "Hi, my love! My husband's here!" she exclaimed. Harry, in turn, jokingly asked if he was interrupting anything important. Meghan explained that they were tasting the dishes of four talented contestants.

Harry commented on the studio's chandeliers and asked to see the dishes. Meghan panned the camera to show the contestants' creations, describing one dish with a hot sauce as "fantastic." Harry then bid farewell, saying, "I will leave you to enjoy it. All is well here, see you later," as the studio audience applauded.

Earlier in the episode, Meghan discussed her family's culinary preferences. When asked by judge Novelli about her husband's favorite meal, she noted his preference for traditional British fare. "My husband, being from the UK, loves a lot of meat, potatoes, cream sauce," she said. In contrast, she described her own preference for grilled fish and meats with citrus and herbs, adding, "I like heat in my food, anything with spices." She also revealed that Harry enjoys a good curry and that both their children, Archie and Lilibet, are "great eaters" and even enjoy Brussels sprouts.

For her guest appearance, contestants were tasked with creating a dish using ingredients she selected, such as honey, macadamia nuts, citrus, edible flowers, and celeriac. Meghan also shared her philosophy on cooking and family meals, emphasizing the importance of connecting through food and encouraging her children to pick fruit from their garden for dessert. She advised the contestants to "have fun, to keep a sense of humour about it, and to cook from the heart," adding that cooking is a way she expresses nurturing and love.

When introduced at the start of the show, Meghan requested to be called simply "Meghan," not "Duchess." She expressed her fondness for Australia, calling the trip a "full circle" moment as she and Harry had announced their pregnancy with Archie during a visit to the country eight years prior. She said she was "thrilled to be here with all of you and taste some really good food."
