Prince Harry has shifted his annual donation from the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund away from Sentebale, the charity he co-founded, to support Elephants Without Borders in Botswana. This marks a significant change after years of supporting Sentebale, which aids orphans in Lesotho and Botswana.
Elephants Without Borders, an organization Prince Harry has long supported, announced that two elephants have been named Archie and Lili in tribute to the prince's children. The charity's founder, Dr. Mike Chase, confirmed that the donated funds were used to fit satellite-tracking collars on two elephants in Botswana's Okavango Delta. Archie's namesake elephant received a blue collar, while Lili's received a purple one.

The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund, established after her death in 1997, was closed in 2012 but continues to receive legacies and donations. An agreement was made for future proceeds to be divided between Prince William and Prince Harry for charities of their choosing after Harry and Meghan stepped down from royal duties in 2020.
Annual accounts for the Royal Foundation of the Prince and Princess of Wales show that Sentebale received £43,866 from the Diana fund between 2020 and 2024, with the last payment of £16,743 made in 2024. In 2025, however, Prince Harry's share, amounting to £5,432, was allocated to Elephants Without Borders for the first time.

This redirection of funds follows a public dispute between Prince Harry and Sophie Chandauka, the chairman of Sentebale's board. Ms. Chandauka has accused Prince Harry of engaging in an "adverse media campaign" that has caused "operational disruption and reputational harm" to the charity he co-founded in 2006. A lawsuit was filed in the High Court in March of this year against Prince Harry and former trustee Mark Dyer.
Prince Harry has denied these allegations, calling them "offensive and damaging." He had previously provided Sentebale with a significant donation of £1.2 million from the profits of his memoir "Spare."
A public disagreement over the charity's control led to Prince Harry, co-founder Prince Seeiso, and a group of trustees resigning in March 2025. The Charity Commission later issued a report criticizing all parties involved for airing their dispute publicly, stating it was a "missed opportunity" that could damage public confidence in the charity sector.

Sentebale stated that it was seeking court protection due to its work being undermined by an "adverse media campaign" since March 25, 2025, which has caused disruption and reputational harm. The charity identified Prince Harry and Mark Dyer as the "architects" of this campaign, alleging the circulation of false narratives and attempts to damage relationships with partners. A spokesperson for Prince Harry and Mark Dyer responded that the charity should concentrate on its mission rather than pursuing legal action.
