Prince Andrew has been seen driving a new £120,000 Range Rover on the royal Sandringham estate, shortly after reports emerged that his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, is planning to return to the United Kingdom. This marks the first sighting of the Duke of York in the green Range Rover Autobiography, which was registered in May and features a hybrid electric system, leather seats, and a massage function.
The top-of-the-range SUV boasts approximately 543 horsepower and can travel up to 53 miles on a full battery charge. It is equipped with a three-liter engine paired with an electric motor, a premium sound system, and a central touchscreen console.
Andrew, 66, was observed driving the vehicle around the Sandringham estate, where he currently resides on Marsh Farm. This move followed his downsizing in February from the 30-room Royal Lodge in Windsor. Ferguson was also reportedly evicted from the Royal Lodge, where she had lived with Andrew for 18 years, and has not resided in the UK since the couple were stripped of their royal titles.
Ferguson, also 66, has reportedly spent the last seven months living in Switzerland and Austria but is expected to return to the UK in the coming days. Sources suggest she is preparing to rent a six-bedroom house in a gated community in the home counties, with the monthly rent estimated at £10,000. One source close to Ferguson indicated that she has been considering a return for some time and is now finding the right accommodation, stating, "Now's the right time to get back to her life."
Ferguson's potential return comes shortly after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle relocated back to the UK with their children. A source close to the former Duchess indicated that she hopes to return to Britain with less public attention by coinciding her arrival with the focus on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Removal vans have reportedly been observed collecting Ferguson's belongings from Andrew's residence in Sandringham, suggesting the move could occur as early as Monday.
Both Andrew and Ferguson had their royal titles removed by King Charles III in October of the previous year, following public scrutiny related to Andrew's past associations with the convicted financier Jeffrey Epstein. During her time abroad, Ferguson was reportedly seen at a spa in Austria and at a chalet in Verbier, Switzerland, which belonged to her late former partner, Paddy McNally. Meanwhile, Prince Andrew remains under police investigation concerning allegations of misconduct in public office, charges he denies.
