Prime Minister Andy Burnham is set to embark on a foreign holiday this week, a mere two weeks after assuming office, Downing Street confirmed on August 4, 2026. The trip is described as a long-planned family excursion, and Burnham is not expected to make public appearances during his absence.

Downing Street has stated that Burnham will remain engaged with his duties and is prepared to return to the UK if necessary. During his time abroad, First Secretary of State and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster Louise Haigh will serve as the most senior minister in Westminster.

Reform UK has criticized the Prime Minister's decision to take a holiday so soon after his appointment. Lee Anderson, chairman of Reform UK, commented that the move indicates Burnham is "not a Prime Minister that's serious about leading."

In a separate poll mentioned by the publication, 84 percent of over 25,000 respondents voted in favor of Restore Britain and Reform UK joining forces for the next election.
