Samuel Preston, the frontman of the band The Ordinary Boys, is engaged to celebrity stylist Chloe Griffin. Griffin bears a striking resemblance to Preston's ex-wife, Chantelle Houghton, whom he met during their time on the reality show Celebrity Big Brother.
Preston, 44, and Griffin met over the Christmas holiday and became engaged several months ago. Preston announced his proposal method earlier this month on the Julie Hamill Podcast, describing how he placed a ring inside a serving of fries, part of what he called a "New York Happy Meal."
Sources close to the couple told The Sun that Preston and Griffin are "head-over-heels for each other" and met through their work. Griffin was involved in styling The Ordinary Boys' music video for "Christmas Starts Tonight" featuring Olly Murs last year. Griffin is described as a Stylist & Creative Consultant and has a significant following on Instagram, where she shares her work.
Preston and Houghton first found love on Celebrity Big Brother in January 2006. They became engaged in April 2006 and married in August of the same year. However, their relationship ended, and they separated in June 2007, divorcing less than a year later. Houghton recently reflected on their marriage, stating on Paul Brunson's We Need To Talk podcast that they "should never have married," attributing their union to the intense experience of the reality show and their youth.
Preston has previously spoken about his struggles with fame and addiction. Following his catapult to public attention after Big Brother, he described his experience as a "nightmare" and a "trauma bond" with Houghton. He also detailed a period of addiction to the prescription painkiller OxyContin after a fall in 2017 that nearly left him unable to walk.
The Ordinary Boys, formed in 2002, achieved significant recognition with their 2005 track "Boys Will Be Boys." Preston's time on Celebrity Big Brother led to intense media scrutiny, including tabloid coverage of his wedding to Houghton, for which they reportedly each received £300,000 for their wedding pictures. Preston has expressed his dislike for the fame that followed, recounting negative comments from magazines at the time. An episode in 2007 on the comedy panel show Never Mind the Buzzcocks, where Preston famously walked off set after the host mocked Houghton, has been cited by Preston as a moment of pride due to his defense of her against what he described as "cruel and classist" remarks.
