A 31-year-old pregnant woman was killed in what authorities are calling a targeted shooting at a Spirit Halloween store in Fairfield, California, on Friday night. Six other individuals were injured in the incident.

The victim, identified as Constance Hages, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Fairfield Police Department stated that preliminary information suggests the shooting was a targeted incident and not random.

Investigators believe the suspect, a 17-year-old boy, entered the store and identified Hages as the intended target before opening fire. The motive for the killing has not yet been released.

Authorities apprehended the suspect at a residence in Suisun City within hours of the shooting. He was identified by a school resource officer who recognized him as a former student. The teenager faces charges of murder and attempted murder.

Of the six surviving victims, four remain hospitalized. A 19-year-old male is in critical condition, while a 16-year-old male, a 23-year-old male, and a 32-year-old male are reported to be in stable condition. The police department has withheld the suspect's name and photo due to his age.

Hages, a mother of four, was reportedly expecting another child. Her aunt, Clanisha Morton, established a GoFundMe account to support Hages' children and family, describing the loss as "heartbreaking" and noting the "overwhelming void" left by her absence.

Fairfield police confirmed this incident is isolated and unrelated to a separate shooting at a Spirit Halloween store in Madison Heights, Michigan.
