Allison Ellsworth, co-founder of the soda brand Poppi, has shared details about her decision to undergo a tummy tuck following a 60-pound weight loss achieved through GLP-1 medications. Ellsworth, 38, had the procedure in April, describing it as a "mommy makeover" performed by New York City-based plastic surgeon Dr. Ryan Neinstein.
Ellsworth documented her journey on TikTok, expressing a desire to regain confidence in her own skin. "I haven't felt confident in my own skin in a while," she stated in a video posted shortly before her surgery. She added that while her family supported her regardless of her appearance, this was a personal goal she had long desired.
In an interview with People, Ellsworth revealed that she had used GLP-1 medications to lose 60 pounds. She explained that after experiencing significant bodily changes from motherhood, breastfeeding, and building her business, she felt she was "not myself." The significant weight loss led her to seek cosmetic surgery.
Following the procedure, Ellsworth shared post-operative experiences, including recovery in bed and undergoing treatments like lymphatic drainage massages. She opted for four days of full-time nursing and stayed at The Plaza Hotel for aftercare, a common arrangement for Dr. Neinstein's patients. She also utilized a hyperbaric oxygen chamber to aid tissue repair and wore compression garments.
Ellsworth reported that the surgical pain and swelling were manageable, and she felt confident in her choice of surgeon. She aimed to reassure other mothers that the pain should not be a deterrent.
However, three months post-surgery, Ellsworth noted that swelling persisted, impacting how her clothes fit and leading to mental challenges. "You're fatter than you feel, and you're just mentally like, 'What the f*** did I do?'" she admitted, describing the difficulty of waiting for swelling to fully subside, which can take up to a year. She found support in an online group for individuals who have had similar procedures, emphasizing the resilience of mothers undertaking such transformations.
Ellsworth, who sold Poppi in 2025 for nearly $2 billion, has continued to share updates on her recovery process.
