Pope Francis has received a Chicago White Sox-branded Pope hat, a promotional item distributed by the MLB team during a game on August 11. The hat's arrival in Vatican City was confirmed by Fr. T. Becket A. Franks on social media platform X.
The Chicago White Sox gave away thousands of the special Pope hats during their game against the Cincinnati Reds. The team's color scheme is noted as compatible with the Pope's typical attire.
The White Sox are currently leading the AL Central division. The article notes the speculative possibility of the Pope wearing the hat during the team's potential postseason run, framing it as an unconventional, but potentially motivating, gesture for an American pope with sports affiliations.
