Police deployed pepper spray Saturday night to break up a chaotic street brawl involving multiple women outside Tacos El Gordo in downtown San Diego.

The melee occurred near the intersection of F Street and Fifth Avenue. Online video footage shows at least six officers on bicycles responding to the scene to separate combatants.

Initially, officers struggled to gain control, with one video appearing to show them detaining a man who was on the hood of a car and breaking up a separate fight between two men. The situation escalated when officers used pepper spray on two women who were actively fighting, exchanging punches, and pulling hair.

At one point, one of the women involved in the fight appeared to fall onto officers' bicycles as they attempted to intervene. Police also appeared to handcuff this individual.

Another video suggests the brawl began with a verbal altercation between two women in line at the taco shop. A man then intervened, leading to a fight between two men. Subsequently, another man pulled one of the women away as police arrived.

The exact cause of the initial dispute remains unclear, and police have not yet stated whether any arrests or charges were made in connection with the incident. It is also unknown if anyone sustained injuries during the widespread confrontation.
