Merseyside police have launched a manhunt for the killer of an elderly woman whose body was found inside a black bin bag in Liverpool's Stanley Park. The discovery was made on Friday afternoon around 5:25 p.m. when a member of the public alerted authorities to a body in a walled garden area within the park.

Despite extensive inquiries, police have not yet identified the woman. Detective Superintendent Rachel Wilson, leading the investigation, stated that the victim's body had been in the park for several weeks. Investigators have reviewed missing person reports but have so far found no matches.

The deceased is described as white, in her 70s, approximately 5 feet 2 inches tall, of small build, with strawberry blonde hair. She was reportedly wearing a distinctive pink Nike branded T-shirt.

Officers are examining CCTV footage from nearby streets and conducting house-to-house inquiries. A post-mortem examination has been completed, but the cause of death has not been publicly disclosed for investigative reasons.

Assistant Chief Constable Andy Ryan acknowledged the incident would be concerning for local residents and emphasized the force's determination to find answers. He appealed to the public, particularly those who frequent Stanley Park, to come forward with any information, including dashcam, doorbell, or CCTV footage, that might have captured suspicious activity in recent weeks. Police are especially interested in information related to the walled garden area of the park.

Stanley Park, a 110-acre space situated between the Anfield and Goodison Park football stadiums, is a popular location for joggers, dog walkers, and families. A mobile police station has been set up in the park to assist with the investigation, and the public is urged to contact Crimestoppers with any information.
