A polar bear cub at the Oga Aquarium in Akita Prefecture, Japan, has captured global attention for his playful interaction with brightly colored cones, discovering an unexpected use for the objects as headwear. The cub, known as Little Momota, was observed engaging with the cones in various ways, including placing them on his head.

Momota, born in December of the previous year, took turns trying on different colored cones, treating them as a novel toy. At one point, the cub was seen resting his head on the tip of a cone, seemingly taking a pause from his playful activities.

The amusing moments were documented by amateur photographer Takuzo Toriya, a 53-year-old office worker. Toriya noted that the cub appeared to be demonstrating his fondness for playing with toys.

This is not the first time Momota has garnered internet fame; his early months have previously drawn significant attention from both aquarium visitors and online audiences. The Oga Aquarium is home to Momota and his mother, Momo.

Globally, it is estimated that between 300 and 400 polar bears live in captivity. In the United Kingdom, approximately 12 polar bears are reportedly cared for in various facilities.
