Hosts of the podcast Pod Save America recently engaged in a discussion about the potential death of former President Donald Trump. The segment, which aired during the show's viewer mail segment on a Tuesday, involved hosts Jon Favreau, Tommy Vietor, and Jon Lovett.
Jon Favreau read a question submitted by a listener: "Is there anyone who can stop this orange piece of sh*t?" He then added, "I think the answer’s 'no.'"
Tommy Vietor contributed to the conversation by suggesting, "I think, uh, heart disease, always got a shot." He further remarked, "Father Time will get there eventually." Jon Lovett agreed with the sentiment, stating, "The hardness of the veins sort of gets us all in the end."
As this discussion took place, the 80-year-old former President was speaking behind bulletproof glass in Washington, D.C., at an event commemorating the September 11, 2001, terror attacks. The notes mention that Trump has survived multiple alleged assassination attempts since 2024 and that Israeli intelligence suggested an active Iranian plot in July.
In March, Favreau had criticized Trump for expressing pleasure at the death of former FBI Director Robert Mueller. At that time, Trump posted on Truth Social, "Robert Mueller just died. Good, I'm glad he's dead. He can no longer hurt innocent people!" Mueller had investigated ties between Russia and Trump's 2016 presidential campaign.
Favreau responded to Trump's post by writing on X, "One day, Donald Trump will die, and his supporters will try to punish the people who say things like this."
The Pod Save America hosts are all former aides to President Barack Obama. The podcast, which launched in early 2017, has garnered over 1 billion downloads and is recognized as one of the most popular podcasts globally.
