More than a year before his recent arrest on allegations of attacking a police officer, Jamar Goff, the foster son of "The Pioneer Woman" star Ree Drummond, faced similar accusations of assaulting an officer. Goff, 23, allegedly bit the hand of a detention or correctional officer in May 2025, according to court documents.

Drummond and her husband, Ladd, became Goff's foster parents in 2018. At the time of the May 2025 incident, Goff stated he was homeless and had recently begun working at McDonald's.

In court paperwork related to the May 2025 incident, Goff listed a cell phone number that appeared to be linked to Ree Drummond as his family contact, identifying the contact as 'foster parent.'

Goff was taken into custody on September 15 at Jefferson County Jail in Birmingham, Alabama, on charges including unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, attempting to elude a police officer, and aggravated assault on a police officer. His bond was set at $37,000.

According to legal documents, police responded to the University of Alabama at Birmingham after receiving a report of a suspicious person. An officer found Goff shirtless and asleep by a fountain. When asked why he was there, Goff reportedly told the officer he was waiting for someone to sell him methamphetamine. The officer then discovered Goff had an active arrest warrant.

As the officer attempted to handcuff Goff, he fled on foot to a nearby medical facility. When confronted again, Goff allegedly struck the officer with an open-handed palm strike. A subsequent search of Goff's backpack revealed a glass pipe, and he was found to be in possession of 1.8 grams of methamphetamine.

Officials stated that Goff was homeless at the time of this arrest. Ree Drummond, known for her blog, cookbooks, and Food Network show, lives with her family on a cattle ranch near Pawhuska, Oklahoma. The family also owns a significant amount of land in Osage County.

In a 2023 Instagram post wishing Goff a happy birthday, Drummond spoke about his "universe going on in that mind and heart and soul of his." She added, "I can’t wait to watch his future unfold. I know it will be filled with good things. I love you, Jamar!!"

Drummond, who has four other children with Ladd, also wrote about Goff on her blog in November 2020, stating she did not want to subject him to more attention than he needed as he settled into their home. She later referred to him as "an inextricable part of our wacky family."
