A photograph, deemed too graphic for publication, has provided a starkly different account of how Jana Armstrong, a mother of a four-month-old child, was found after her alleged murder. While initial reports suggested her body was discovered buried in dense bushland, the image reveals she was found dumped by the side of a remote road, with hundreds of motorists unknowingly passing by.
Jana Armstrong, 30, was found dead in bushland north of Toowoomba, Queensland, on Saturday, July 11, following a four-day search. Her remains were discovered by pig hunters. Police allege that her former partner, Dharminder Singh, 48, strangled her and then disposed of her body off Esk-Hampton Road.
Investigators and media arrived at the scene the morning after her body was found. Aerial footage captured by a news helicopter inadvertently filmed Armstrong's body, face-down and partially visible in the undergrowth, meters from the road. This image offers a chilling contrast to earlier descriptions that portrayed her remains as being found in a steep, secluded ravine, concealed by dense vegetation.
Instead, the aerial view shows Armstrong was not hidden but carelessly discarded down a slight embankment, her body clearly visible from the roadside. She was found still wearing the green Country Road top she was last seen in on Tuesday, July 7, during a brunch outing with her sister, Faith Isaacs, and brother-in-law, Michael Isaacs.
Faith Isaacs, who is now caring for Armstrong's infant son, Deshal, expressed her anguish over the circumstances of her sister's death. She described the disposal of Armstrong's body as "disgusting" and the act of a "f***ing grub."
Dharminder Singh appeared in Toowoomba Magistrates Court on July 13, charged with domestic violence murder. He has not yet entered a plea, but his lawyer has stated that his client maintains his innocence and intends to fight the charges.
Armstrong was first reported missing on Wednesday, July 8, after her white Hyundai Kona was found unlocked near her unit with a child's car seat in the back. Police initially feared for the safety of both mother and child but found Deshal safe at Armstrong's home, reportedly with Singh.
Armstrong's funeral is planned to be livestreamed, with the ceremony, burial, and wake to take place in Millmerran, a small town southwest of Toowoomba. She will be laid to rest in the local cemetery, alongside her parents, who died in 2019 and 2021.
