Philadelphia police have identified Zymire Hughes, 22, as the suspect accused of terrorizing women on the city streets while wearing a Chucky-style Halloween mask. An active arrest warrant has been issued for Hughes, and authorities are asking the public to be on the lookout for him, as he may have fled the state.
Surveillance footage released by the police department allegedly shows Hughes chasing people and threatening them. In one instance, he reportedly yelled at a woman, asking if she was "ready to die." The suspect was denied service at a Dunkin' Donuts due to his mask.
The pursuit ended when Hughes allegedly confronted Jameka Wilson, a woman trained in combat. Wilson reportedly fought back, kicking Hughes in the chest, causing him to stumble and flee. "He was not guarding his midsection, so she kicked him hard in the chest. He stumbled and ran," Wilson told Fox News.
Police describe Hughes as a Black male with a medium complexion, approximately 5-foot-8, with a thin build. He was reportedly wearing a white Chucky-style Halloween mask with black hair and carrying a black and blue plaid backpack. Authorities stated that Hughes has connections to California and Nevada, suggesting he may have fled to those states. The Philadelphia Police Department released a side-by-side image comparing the mask-wearing suspect to surveillance footage of him allegedly pursuing a victim near City Hall.
