Perez Hilton was treated for multiple injuries and an overdose by first responders after a self-harm livestream on August 4, according to a new report from the Miami-Dade County Sheriff's Office. Fire rescue personnel responded to Hilton's Miami home and provided treatment before he was transported to the hospital. The report did not specify the substance involved in the overdose or the exact nature of the treatment.
Police were called to the residence following emergency calls that alerted them to a possible suicide attempt during a TikTok livestream. Footage from the stream reportedly showed Hilton, whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., covered in blood after appearing to injure himself with a knife.
According to the report, Hilton's sister, Barbara, along with his three children and niece, had been at the house prior to the incident. Barbara told authorities that she and the children fled the residence and went to her parked car. The report states that Hilton, described as nude and blood-covered, emerged from his home and began banging on the car's window while Barbara was inside. He then returned to the house and locked himself in before authorities and family members gained entry.
Barbara also informed officers that her brother had been suicidal before the livestream and that the family had sought treatment for him the week prior. She recounted finding him in his bathroom, naked, cut, and covered in blood with a box cutter in his hand, describing his eyes as looking different and that he smiled at her. She stated she then rushed the children out of the house and called 911.
Barbara re-entered the home and attempted to staunch Hilton's bleeding while awaiting an ambulance. He was taken to the hospital, and she remained to speak with arriving crisis teams. Hilton's team later confirmed he sustained significant blood loss and additional injuries, requiring surgery. He remains hospitalized under Florida's Baker Act, a law permitting involuntary commitment for individuals believed to be a danger to themselves or others. His condition is described as serious but stable, with recovery expected to be a long process. Communication from the hospital is limited to immediate family and medical providers.
Hilton, 48, was previously hospitalized in March after developing sepsis from an ulcer caused by taking flu medication on an empty stomach, leading to a 21-day hospital stay. He launched his celebrity gossip blog, originally PageSixSixSix.com, in 2004, later renaming it PerezHilton.com. He gained prominence in the mid-2000s for his commentary on celebrities, though his remarks often drew criticism for being perceived as callous.
