Perez Hilton's family has released a new statement providing an update on the celebrity blogger's condition following a reported suicide attempt. The family stated that he is "able to communicate," a detail that has provided them with hope.

This update comes approximately 24 hours after Hilton, whose birth name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., was taken to the hospital. The hospitalization followed a livestream that appeared to show him engaging in self-harm.

"This has been incredibly difficult and emotional for us, made even harder because very little information has been made available to our family," the statement shared to Hilton's website reads. "While we continue to wait for further updates, we remain hopeful."
