Chris Booker, co-host of The Perez Hilton Podcast, has broken his silence following a distressing TikTok livestream that led to blogger Perez Hilton's hospitalization. Booker released a statement expressing deep concern for Hilton and his family.
"I am so profoundly sad for Perez and his family and what they're all going through. It's truly unimaginable," Booker stated via Instagram. He mentioned speaking briefly with Hilton's family and honoring their wishes for privacy during this difficult time. "Even the family is struggling to get updates due to the confidential security measures in place at the hospital because of how many people are trying to get information," he added.
Booker also addressed the future of their podcast, stating that all shows are "TBD at the moment as our collective focus is on his health." He expressed hope for continuing the podcast with Hilton when appropriate. "We’ve done these shows for over a decade now and the support from our listeners has been resounding," he noted.
Police were dispatched to Hilton's Miami home on Tuesday evening after receiving multiple emergency calls from concerned fans who witnessed alarming behavior on his TikTok livestream, which appeared to involve self-harm with a knife. Surveillance video captured several police cars arriving at the property, with officers attempting to coax Hilton out of the house.
Representatives for Hilton confirmed he was receiving medical attention. "Our primary concern is Perez's health and well-being, as well as the well-being of his family," read a statement from his representatives. "Until we have confirmed information, we will not speculate or comment further."
Friends and fans, including Trisha Paytas and former politician George Santos, have shared messages of support and concern on social media. Some social media users also criticized TikTok for the duration the livestream remained accessible.
Hilton, whose birth name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., has been open about past controversies and mistakes made during his career, including outings of gay celebrities and giving nicknames to celebrities. He previously spoke about finding healing and forgiveness through a personal experience with faith.
Earlier this year, Hilton spent 21 days in the hospital battling sepsis, which he attributed to taking flu medication on an empty stomach. During his recovery, he reported undergoing two surgeries and experiencing a spiritual awakening.
Hilton's family has stated that he is "able to communicate" and expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support. They have requested continued prayers, understanding, and grace as he recovers, promising to share updates as confirmed information becomes available. The family also emphasized that their focus remains on Hilton's well-being.
