Rachel Danis, the new wife of Patrick Clancy, has spoken about the initial reactions of her loved ones when they began dating. Patrick Clancy is the ex-husband of Lindsay Clancy, who was convicted of strangling their three young children. Danis revealed that her family and friends were worried upon hearing about the relationship.
In an interview with "60 Minutes," Danis recounted the hesitations expressed by her inner circle. "Everyone paused – um, understandably so," she said when asked about their response. She further explained that as she shared details of her weekends and evenings with Patrick, people began to notice. "I think family members were picking up on it because they would ask what I’m doing that weekend or that evening and I would mention Pat. So people were catching on and I think people were worried."
Danis, an infertility specialist, and Patrick Clancy married in April. She shared that to address their concerns, she emphasized her happiness in the relationship. "I would say and still say, for the first time, Sundays felt like Saturdays. So I didn’t have a reason to stop," she stated, recalling the early days of their relationship. The couple first met in January 2024 while running in Central Park.
Danis noted that life became calmer for her after meeting Patrick. "And while I did have hesitations, you know, Pat was saying he wants the same things that I do," she added.
Patrick Clancy had moved to New York City seeking anonymity. This move occurred months after he returned to his Duxbury, Massachusetts, home in January 2023 to discover his then-wife, Lindsay Clancy, had murdered their children Cora, 5; Dawson, 3; and 8-month-old Callan. Lindsay Clancy then attempted suicide by jumping from a window.
During the "60 Minutes" interview, the couple also revealed they are expecting a child and expressed their excitement about telling their future child about their slain siblings.
