Scenes of intense physical reactions, including thrashing and collapsing, unfolded during a book signing event for Los Angeles-based pastor Kathryn Krick at a Houston bookstore on May 12. Krick, who describes herself as an 'apostle,' practices what her ministry calls spiritual 'deliverance,' a process intended to free individuals from demonic forces.
More than 200 people attended the event at a Barnes & Noble, where Krick, the lead pastor of Five-Fold Church, was promoting her book, "Ignite Revival." Footage shared by Krick shows attendees exhibiting dramatic physical responses as they approached her table. In one instance, a woman began to shake visibly, with her torso jerking and head snapping backward. Support was offered as her knees buckled and she arched backward over a chair before being lowered to the floor.
Krick characterized these occurrences as powerful encounters with God and evidence of a religious 'revival.' She stated that the intense reactions continued as attendees came forward to have their books signed. During some interactions, Krick was heard commanding unseen forces to 'leave her body,' in line with her ministry's practice of spiritual deliverance.
Text overlaid on the video footage declared, "God's power is not limited to the four walls of a church." Krick commented on Instagram, "Revival broke out in this bookstore!" She claimed that individuals were falling out of their seats and that many were "set free, some received impartation, and others were touched powerfully by God’s love."
Five-Fold Church's mission, according to its website, is to bring Christian revival globally and restore what it believes are lost practices of the early church. The ministry teaches that God's power can "deliver the oppressed and heal the sick" and that followers are called to act as vessels for God's anointing, which can be passed through a practice called 'impartation.' The report noted that Krick provided no evidence to support claims of purported healings or demonic deliverances.
