Four years after swim coach Kyle Daniels was acquitted of child sex abuse charges, his parents, James and Janine Daniels, have divorced. James Daniels has since relocated to Melbourne and entered a new relationship, also launching a business venture with his partner.

Kyle Daniels, now 27, faced 10 child sex abuse charges related to alleged incidents in 2018 and 2019. Prosecutors later dropped the remaining allegations against him in December 2022, ending a lengthy legal ordeal that began when he was 20. He has since moved to Queensland and works in recruitment.

His parents, James and Janine, had supported him throughout the legal battle. Their separation occurred soon after his vindication, though they appear to have remained on amicable terms. James Daniels, an advertising executive, is now based in South Yarra and has publicly shared his relationship with Alexandra Pym (née Martin).

The couple has also announced a joint business venture, inspired by their travels and experiences with unfamiliar bathrooms. "From a dating site to a relationship, and now to launching a product together – who knew smelly bathroom visits could spark such inspiration?" James Daniels wrote on social media. They are developing a bathroom product designed to address "loo anxiety."

James and Janine Daniels sold their three-bedroom home in Balgowlah in 2024 for $2.45 million. Kyle Daniels, who grew up on Sydney's Northern Beaches, attended Knox Grammar School before studying at Sydney University. He became accredited as a swimming instructor in 2016 while in Year 12.

The allegations first arose in mid-2018 when parents raised concerns about Daniels' conduct during lessons at Mosman Swim Centre. The school implemented new procedures, and Daniels was suspended in February 2019. Police charged him in March 2019 with two counts of intentionally sexually touching girls aged between six and ten. He was initially refused bail and spent time in custody before securing bail under strict conditions.

His trial began in October 2020, with the charges expanded to 26 involving nine girls and 23 alleged incidents. Daniels pleaded not guilty, denying all allegations. The jury acquitted him of 10 charges but could not reach verdicts on the remaining 11. A second jury also failed to reach verdicts. Following the prospect of a third trial, the Director of Public Prosecutions dropped all outstanding charges in December 2022. Kyle Daniels was born in Johannesburg and lived in South Africa and Singapore before his family moved to Australia in 2014.
